VINCENT-WARREN DANCE LIBRARY
The Quebec Ballet School wanted to expand and completely reorganize its library space which was previously confined to a small windowless room. The Vincent-Warren library being the largest dance library in the country, they wanted to honor it by creating an airy and friendly space, inviting for the school's students.
By recovering the administrative offices, recently relocated, the surface area of the library has more than tripled!
Obviously, like any project, we had to work with various constraints, including a very limited budget and the fact that the building housing the dance school was a former parking garage! The fact remains that we used these constraints to our advantage, thus transforming the old concrete access ramp into stands; the new space favored by students.
Various areas have also been set up, including a meeting room, work tables, a reception desk and a room for multimedia work. Another section has been fitted out with armchairs for reading, but can be transformed to accommodate presentations or conferences.
