COLONIALE RESIDENCE
This residence, originally built in 1890, had many original features that were retained in the renovation. Among other things, the wooden staircase as well as its elaborate railing, the moldings and the pretty rosettes adorning the ceiling of the living rooms.
However, cooking was relegated to the background, in a small room at the back of the house. We opened up the space on the ground floor to highlight it in the center of the house. Large bay windows were also added to the rear façade, opening the view towards the small courtyard and its lush vegetation.
Although some original decorative elements have been preserved, the design of this house remains rather sober and refined. The wood is thus highlighted with the herringbone floor, the restored staircase as well as the integrated furniture in the kitchen and bathrooms.
At the back of the house, the new dining room takes the place of the old kitchen. The addition of a large sliding glass wall allows the connection of this space with the outdoor terrace and thus make the most of the small courtyard.
On the second floor, the three bedrooms have been little modified, apart from improving the storage spaces. The original doors and moldings have been preserved and restored, keeping the character of the house. The bathroom has been enlarged allowing the installation of a separate bath and shower, as well as a double vanity.
